Tired of answering questions that could simply be Googled?

I've obviously touched a nerve with my original post, so I'll remove it.

My point, which many of you appear to have missed, is  NOT to NOT help new people, but to teach them to help themselves...

By googling an answer for someone that they can get themselves, you aren't helping them, you're enabling them.  We all cringe when we see Post-Ops who haven't been given plans and are struggling--THAT SPECIFICALLY isn't what I was addressing.  What I was addressing was "how many calories in a _________" which could be answered with a quick google.

Apologize if my "teach a man to fish" approach has people irritated this morning...

Actually no, I never get tired of it. Please anyone if you have a question, please feel free to ask. It is important for those of us who have been here for a while to answer all the questions that everyone has no matter how simple or "stupid" they may be. For two reasons:

1. It keeps those of use who have been there reminded of what we had to do to get there and keeps it fresh in our minds so we do not relapse and start eating chips and cookies and lazying around on the couch.

2. It constantly keeps this information fresh on this board for the newbies.

So please never feel weird about asking questions no matter what anyone says.

That being said, that's a good link!

I will talk to you about this again in four years, if you are still here Keith.  :)   (Don't get me wrong, I don't want you to go anywhere, at least not until the next crop of newbies is ready to take over for you).  There is a pattern to all things, including your willingness to respond.

You are right. I do from time to time think "oh no this question again!?!?!" But then I realize that when I started out I was that guy and you and Frisco and so many others were kind and firm enough to point me in the right direction.

I do which we had a public place on here that listed the common ones that was right in your face all the time but for now I will just keep answering.

i hope whoever pissed in your cornflakes this morning goes away, and/or your day gets better.  Certainly you're not always so rude and high-and-mighty.
