Sleevers- How Long did it take you to get to goal?
- How long did it take you to get to goal?
- How much weight did you have to lose?
- Have you had any trouble with regain?
Thanks in advance for your help! (Trying to decide between sleeve and bypass)
Both surgeries, long term, have similar results from my reading a few years ago. The bypass has a slightly better short term as far as rate of loss, but it's evened out around two years.
Having said that, it matters little which surgery you get, but more about your long term commitment to it. Research research research and choose the one that you feel you can commit to 110%
To answer your questions:
I'm almost 2 years out and technically, haven't seen the magic 150 on my scale, but my surgeon's goal was 250, I reached that at week 36. My initial pie-in-the-sky goal was 175, reached at month 18. My revised goal is 150 and I'm within my chosen maintenance range of 148-154.
I had 225 pounds to lose, started at 375.
Not so far. I'll pack on a few pounds if I loosen up too much, but I watch it and tighten back up. So far, it's been fairly easy, but I know that WILL change as I get further and further out so I'm very mindful of it.

5'6" / HW 375 / SW 355 / CW 150 / Maintaining 155-159 - Goal Reached! 225 Pounds Lost
It has taken me 8 months to get to goal. I have lost 96 pounds from my highest weight I knew ( when I was willing to get on the scale). You may say 215 is not that much but I am 5 ft 2 barely and I was an Oompa Loompa!
i just officially started maintenance about 3 weeks ago so am not qualified to answer your last question. I'll tell you in about 5 years.
Best wishes to you.
It took me 8 months to reach goal. I lost 146+ pounds, 26ish before surgery. No problem with regain at this time, and overall maintenance has been really easy.
The surgeries have comparable results. Sleeve- faster recovery, no rerouting, able to take Nsaids, loss of or greatly diminished ghrelin, and overall you can eat normally. (Nothing gets stuck.)
Rny- rerouting, more complications, dumping (a plus for some as it keeps you away from sugar), malabsorption of calories stops after a period of time but malabsorption of vitamins is life long.
They are both good procedures.
