GM!

I have been experiencing a huge stall for a few weeks all ready. About a month and 1/2 ago I went thru the same stall and then out of no where I lost about 12 lbs in a week. Yes!! 12 lbs.  I am not sure why I keep going through this. I monitor a lot of VSG progress and their average loss and I noticed many take off about 1 to 2 lbs a week. I seem to retain all my weight for about 6 weeks then have a huge drop. Its pretty frustrating bc as I wait- I feel like, this is it!  I am not going to lose any more.

Anyone else experience this?  I am currently 5 months out and have lost 72 lbs.

72 lbs is great! Good job! You will lose more if you work the program, don't worry!

What's your food intake (calories/protein/carbs) per day? Are you measuring/logging all food?

How much exercise are you doing daily?

It works if you work it; it sorta works if you sorta work it; and it doesn't work if you don't work it.

Since surgery, my weight loss has been in steps.  I have not seen a change in the scale for 10 days now, and I'm hovering at 99 pounds lost.  My body is not going to relinquish that next pound to bring me to 100 pounds lost!

I'm not sure why it happens, but it certainly is true for me.  I keep telling myself that as long as I am following my plan and consuming 600 to 800 calories per day while staying low carb, then I have to be losing around 1/2 pound per day.  Eventually it will show on the scale.  But it is frustrating.

So hang in there.  72 pounds lost is wonderful.  I bet you look and feel so much better.  Just stick with the plan, and you'll see the results.

best wishes,

Carol

In the early months for me I lost consistently on a weekly basis.  After a few months it switched to a stair step pattern.  Nothing for up to 3 weeks, and then over a few days about 10 pounds would drop.  I got used to it and in some ways looking back I almost regard it as being helpful.  It forced me to stay on plan without the constant reinforcement of the scale dropping.  Maintenance is similar- no more drops on the scale, but you still need to make good choices.  Be sure to stay on plan.  You can do this!

CONGRATS ON THE 72 LBS....First off 72 lbs is a lot in the perspective of 5 months!! You will have stalls it is hard to deal with them but just b/c the weight isn't moving on the scale right then doesn't mean your not losing inches off your body. Don't give up keep pushing and do something different are you logging? are you exercising?? if so try something different like jogging instead of walking or AM work out instead of PM something to shock you body. But remember even at 5 months out your body is going and doing a lot different. Give it some time and it will drop! Good luck and welcome to the Loser Bench!angry

Congrats on your loss so far!

When I was losing weight during the six month supervised diet... my weight loss was steady the entire time. I only remember stalling like one time! I think I liked it that way. NOW after surgery I'm totally a stair step loser and I'm not sure why it change. I was losing after surgery, then at two weeks I stalled for 8 days. Then, I lost 6 lbs in a week, then stalled for 8 days, then I spent about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks losing about 16 lbs and it looks like I'm headed into another stall!

It's so, so frustrating... but I just keep reminding myself that it's not physically possible for me to be gaining weight or not at least losing inches since I'm following my plan 100%! It's difficult, but it's important to be mentally tough during these times! I make sure I feel good about myself by wearing clothes that fit well and by trying to stay active during these times!
