I got a little too excited about lunch earlier and ate too quickly. I have learned my lesson and I WILL NOT DO THAT AGAIN!    Of course my stomach hurt because I put too much into it much too quickly.  Now my stomach is sore.  I decided to give my tummy a break and have a shake for dinner.  Is this tummy soreness normal?

I don't know about the soreness, but one thing I am experiencing is....even though I am measuring my food and then eat it, about 15 minutes after I am done I am what I would call toooooo full. Just a feeling of bloated. My stomach does not really hurt, but it does worry me if I am hurting anything.

Of course I have backed off a little bit, but seriously I am talking about a 1/4 of a cup of chili. I thought at 4 weeks I could/should be eating a 1/4 cup especially since a lot of it is broth.

LOL, I feel so silly sometimes with my little bowl and baby spoon, but it has helped me to eat smaller amounts, I still find myself hurrying though. Something that I take one day at a time.

Hope you fell better soon!!!

Don't feel at all silly about eating with your little bowl and baby spoon. That's a very good way to keep your portions and bites super small. Also, remember we aren't supposed to eat and drink together, so if your chili has quite a bit of broth in it when you're eating it don't have the liquid part of it. Only have the chunky part. Really listen to your new stomach. It's amazing how little it will hold! :)

Really??? Don't eat the broth. I thought I was suppose to. I am 4 weeks out and on soft foods. I guess it makes sense not to eat the broth, because it might wa**** down and I wouldn't realize how much I've eaten. Was that your point?  If so, Thank you!! That completely makes sense. Hadn't thought of it like that.

I know I have been babying my stomach and not venturing out on my foods much.

Thanks for the comment and the help!!!!

It can take some time for your stomach to feel better after eating too quickly or too much. My soreness has been more at my sternum area instead of my actual stomach and usually would feel better within an hour. I hope you're feeling better soon. Even at 9 1/2 months out I still have to remind myself to slow down sometimes. :)

I find it so challenging to eat slowly, and many times I ended up with a sore stomach from overfilling it.  I started weighing and measuring my food for every meal, and that helped prevent overeating.  The soreness from overeating probably lasts less than an hour for me.

Best of luck with your weight loss journey.

Besides weighing and measuring my food out before I eat it, I also make a note of the time when I start eating. If I have finished in a minimum of 20 minutes then I am doing okay. 30 minutes is my ideal, but 20 minutes minimum is what I give myself to eat. I put my fork down between bites and chew, chew, chew--at least 20-30 times each bite.

It takes a little bit to learn to slow down, especially when we are so used to wolfing down meals. But you will learn!
