Sleeved yesterday / home today!

Happy to report the surgery went well, thankfully minor pain, I would say more discomfort.  I got some pain medication in the hospital but I don't believe I was given morphine.  I wanted something to help me sleep last night so they gave me Benadryl and a shot for the pain (can't recall the name).  The  only thing they told me to take at home was Advil if it was bad or just plain Tylenol.  I was also sent 7 days of self-injectable blood thinner and 30 day supply of Omeprazole.  Not sure why but have had bad headache all day today.  I also feel a lot more bloated than yesterday.  I am taking my sips of water which go down pretty well.  The soup / jello in the hospital made me want to gag but I tried to get as much of it down as possible.  My salvation was ice chips.  I will be staying on clear liquids for 4 days and then go to full liquids on day 5.  I am sore, can't say I'm not but honestly for being such a major surgery, it thankfully hasn't been terrible.  I think I may have a little difficulty with seeing and smelling food I can't eat.  We will see but I think that may be one of my greater challenges.  Thank you for all the well wishes and for those of you who will be getting sleeved in the future, it is definitely doable.  :D

Sip sip sip, the headache can be lots of things because you just had surgery (All the meds in the hospital, etc) but also dehydration, so just remember the important thing is to drink. Like you, I loved the ice chips.

Take care of yourself and Congrats!!!!!!!

Did your surgeon tell you that you could take Advil? Since it's an NSAID I would think this one would be off limits til at least 6 weeks?

Thanks for the Advil warning.  I actually did not see the doctor for my release.  The instructions were given to me by the nurse.

I'm so glad to hear your surgery went well, with minimal pain.  That was my experience as well.  I can't wait to be sharing success stories with you from the Loser's Bench!

Your comment about seeing and smelling food made me think of my experience. I am happy to report that at 3 weeks post-op, seeing and smelling food is rather like window shopping for me. I deal with the senses but am not tempted. Love my sleeve. Good luck on your recovery.
