Gallbladder removed and gained 5 lbs.
Of course I'm not any kind of medical expert but I would think that the fluids in your IV probably have a little bit to do with that and maybe even some of the gas they pump in (if it was laprascopic). They really like to pump in a lot of fluid. I know I came home from sleeve surgery weighing more than the day I went in. So I think you will be fine in a few days. Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hey now, don't stress!
I had surgery last week also, and also gained several pounds despite eating less than 1,000 calories over a three day span- and I am a chic who puts down 1600 plus a day normally. Bottom line is- water weight. We are healing and the body is just retaining water to help that process along. Take comfort in knowing that your caloric intake in no way possible could account for that gain and keep yourself on plan. At some point- we will both lose tha****er weight. HT
