OT - Word of Caution on Making Big Changes in your Life - for Newbies

The following is just my opinion and may very different from someone elses and I do not claim to know everyone's elses experiences and situations  - This is just a caring word of caution for those of you that are new to the sleeve, especially women.  I have seen several posts lately on various boards that have me concerned.  The first several months after having this surgery can be very emotional for women especially.  We are not necessarily in our right minds for a while.  Your body is going through many changes and it does not always make you think rationally.  I have seen people ending long marriages, moving clear across the country without a plan, etc.  While we go through the surgery and the physical changes, our family and loved ones are also going through changes.  They are trying to figure out how they still fit into your life, do they say anything to you or are they better keeping quiet.  Also the ones that see us each and every day do not see the dramatic physical changes that others see.  I just had a co-worker that was updating our website who sees me everyday and had no idea that I had lost more than 115lbs.  He apologized to me for not saying something sooner or even realizing it.  It took seeing that old picture to see how different I look for him to realize.  I have family members that have said the same thing recently.  Now if you had a bad relationship before you had the surgery, then chances are you will have a bad relationship after the surgery.  If you had a good relationship then it might just take some time after the surgery to get things back on track. Just don't make drastic changes in the first six months unless it was something that you were going to do before the surgery.  No one should stay in a bad, abusive relationship but if your feelings are new since the surgery, then don't do anything drastic, really think about it and be at least 6 months out from surgery before you make any rash decisions that you might regret down the road.

I was just about to go OFF on a family member about some bullshyt over LEFT OVER Thanksgiving food that my mother supposedly didn't give someone enough of. "I didn't get any left over food!"

My mother gave your a$$ a whole pork roast that no one ate. What the F__K you mean you didn't get any food?

I remember early on wanting to snap at everyone and being upset with my husband for not noticing how much I had lost, etc. but someone else pointed out how we need to put ourselves in their shoes and it really helped me!
