Surgery Dates?

How much input did you all have in your surgery dates?  It seems like, from the posts, most people just get a date and then have to make it work?  

They gave me the first available date...and then I pushed it out a couple weeks to accommodate my schedule.

This is reassuring.  I've got some scheduling issues that I'll need to work surgery around.  

Once I was approved they just asked me if I wanted to get in at the earliest date while making sure I was on a two week liquid diet or if I had a specific date in mind further out. Typically you get to choose. I picked my date, which was only a few days past the earliest date they had available. I had about a three week wait from that phone call to my surgery to accommodate my work schedule.

I haven't gotten a date yet, but 6 months from when I had my initial consultation would be June, 2014. When they give me a date, I am hoping they ask for my input because July is when we all take vacation at the school I work for.

I just said that I wanted to do it as soon as possible. They told me the first available date, and I said okay because it didn't really matter. I work in a high school (teacher's aide) and I don't want to wait until spring break to have it done (was hoping to do it over winter break..) so I'll have to miss work anyways. So long story short, yes they did ask me.

They told me what dates were available and I chose the first one that didn't conflict with my schedule.

I was able to choose from different dates. I just took the soonest available though lol

I had a very specific time frame in mind for my surgery. I met with my surgeon in August and wanted surgery the week of December 16th. Because I booked it so early, he was able to accommodate me.

I had been aiming for Dec.23 in order to have the entire winter break to recover, but my surgeon at the last minute decided he wasn't doing any surgeries that week, so I was pushed to the 30th. I'll need to take a few days off now, so I'm recovered enough to return. Our school starts back up tomorrow, but I don't feel quite ready to go back yet. So to answer you, yes & no...depends on the surgeon's schedule, the people who have already scheduled ahead of you, and what is left.
