Do you feel the need to eat a sanctioned "breakfast food" for breakfast? You could always eat some chicken breast, fish, etc. that was leftover from last night's dinner. I'm in a breakfast funk, too, and that's what I've just started doing. It feels a bit like I'm starting my day with lunch, but, hey! Whatever works!

I often take a slice of ham and roll it around a mozerrella cheese stick. If I want some added flavor, I add a couple dill pickle slices before I roll it up.

I am a protein shake fan... because I am just that lazy.  I would also use the powder in my morning coffee.  I am a hot cereal fan, but I know for most that is a carb issue.  A latte with ff milk and some protein powder is really good too.  Smoothies might be a choice as well.  I like to juice... mostly green leafy veggies.  Not a good source or protein, but great for the micro nutrients!

Hijack! You said that you still do shakes... How does it affect your daily calorie limit? I've been playing around with cutting back on them to conserve calories, but I'm finding that I'm not hitting my protein goals without them :(

My calories are always, always lower on days I drink shakes.  I use Premier Protein or now eas 100 calorie carb control ones.

I make savory egg white mini crust less quiches (ala the World According to Eggface blog). I bought a muffin pan that makes 24 mini muffins. Every Sunday in a bowl I mix egg whites and other ingredients. Two weeks ago was crumbled cooked bacon, shallots, and goat cheese. Tomorrow will be deli turkey, pepperjack cheese, and chopped peppers and onions. Spoon them into the pan and bake for 30 mins at 350. I bag them up into bags of 3 and throw a few bags in the freezer. I take a bag to work and pop the 3 into the microwave and it's an amazing high protein start to the day. Plus they're delicious! I also sometimes eat a veggie burger (read labels! Some have lots of carbs). I put a bit of mustard on it and maybe cheese. Good luck!

I'm lazy in the morning, I eat a Pure Protein peanut butter bar for breakfast. I still haven't tried eggs..I'm spooked by all the people who have said they had issues with eggs. Some people like the low fat mozzeralla sticks (string cheese). Once in awhile I'll have my Isopure Zero Carb creamy vanilla and put some PB2 chocolate flavored peanut butter in it.

Today I actually tried my first taste of beef in over 3 months. I went to Famous Daves for dinner and my date ordered the brisket, which is a very soft and moist meat. I ate a piece about the size of a quarter and stopped. It was delicious but I was worried my new tummy might revolt. Fortunately everything was fine. The grilled pineapple (so so good) stayed put, too. I ate a piece about the size of a hershey kiss. Baby steps!

I like refried beans with a bit of turkey bacon stirred in, hot sauce, and melted cheese on top. Using a quarter cup of beans and a slice of turkey bacon gives you about 125 calories and 12 grams of protein, plus a healthy dose of fiber to start your day.

I also like to eat non-traditional breakfast foods -- take about an 1.5 ounces of canned fish (sardines, smoked trout, mackerel, etc.) and ma**** up on top of a veggie blend.
