My nutritionist gave me this but it was not a good quality copy.  They have it on this site as well.  This is going to be great when dining out

I'm not sure it will be so valuable.  Most of the items on the children's menu are not things that would fit into our plan.  I prefer to get something that works and sounds good from the regular menu and have leftovers.

This has been my experience as well.

Plus, I don't think that random.server needs to know my health status for any reason at all.

There's certainly no reason you need to tell random people about your health at all.  There is no problem with that at all and a lot of people feel this way.

For me, I don't have any problem discussing my surgery with total strangers I meet.  It has been good in several ways.  Sometimes servers will have ideas about things I can order, or ways to order separate items that don't appear on the menu.  I actually had a fast food server, once she heard that I couldn't eat much, didn't want fried, wasn't going to eat the bread, she found two individual items that worked perfectly for me and helped me eat properly for about $3 without throwing away stuff.

I've had people at other tables overhear me talking to my server and ask me questions. I had one man whose Dr had been pushing him to consider it for years and he was very hesitant.  He had some questions that I was glad to answer.  There have been several people who have been honestly interested that I've enjoyed talking to.  I had one gentleman who was retired from the main Mayo Clinic as a surgeon and his wife was a Pathologist.  They gently mentioned that I needed to stay vigilant and keep getting my bloodwork and follow up visits done because they had seen the people who came in with problems from not following the rules.

Sometimes, I'm also correcting misconceptions. I had a massage therapist that thought it was the same as lipo and didn't understand at first about the concepts of WLS.

It's great that you've been able to be such a great spokesperson for surgery!

I had to laugh when I saw that the first restaurant on this list is a buffet. If you've (hypothetical you) had weight loss surgery, what are you doing at a buffet? That's like an alcoholic going to a wine tasting.

I went to Fogo de Chao two weeks ago (at week 5 post-op) and it was actually a super easy and completely fine meal.  No troubles at all sticking to plan.

Fogo de Chao is a little different than Golden Corral.

My surgeon's office gave me and my husband one of these cards....we have never used them.  I don't want to announce to a total stranger that I had WLS and I'm proven myself perfectly capable of ordering healthy meals and taking leftovers home for the next day or two.

And frankly, I would never order the crap they have on a kid's menu for myself.  Typically, it's pretty light on the protein and heavy on the carb.
