270 Pounds Lost and 2nd 5K = My life is AWESOME!!!
Today, I participated in my 2nd 5K. This 5K was a Trail Run. Okay, so for me it was a Trail Walk. :) Originally, I was participating with a friend. Unfortunately, they had to drop out the day before. When I found out my first reaction was "What the heck do I do now?" See, at this point of time, I am only allowed to participate in 5Ks as long as someone who knows my medical history is with me due to my previous serious illness....Blah, blah, blah. The fact that I can walk across a room let alone do a 5K is a miracle. I found out another friend was going to be onsite (not actually running or walking), so I decided to just go for it.
Below is what I shared with friends after the race today:
Sitting in the car bawling like a baby realizing how far I've come:
I significantly beat the previous time I had on my first 5K.
I walked this one alone - singing Mandisa's Overcomer at the top of my lungs along the trails (even though I was terrified of "what if I have a problem. No one knows my story who I am medically".)
I lost my shoes, phone and water bottle in a mud pit on the trail, with mud up to my elbows after landing on hands and knees during a very difficult part of the route.
I never once stopped or thought about giving up, even with mud here, there, everywhere!
270 pounds heavier and 3 lung surgeries that hadn't happened yet, my life was very different. The person I am today is AMAZING!
So, here I sit, bawling like a baby. In awe of myself, my life and my journey to get here. My life is AWESOME!!!!
