8 weeks out - full solid diet, how many calories?
Hi all,
ive had two stalls already and have been thinking about why. Hitting protein goals, keeping carbs at 40 or less.
Went for my 2 month follow up and was told that I wasn't eating enough! Only 700-800 calories a day isn't enough and my body is responding by "holding on for dear life" aka starvation mode.
He suggested trying for 1000 calories a day and obviously good food, no processes stuff and a few servings of fruit and veg a day, which I'm cleared for.
So....about how many calories do you consume?
Starvation mode is a myth. It's sort of sad how little doctors know about nutrition and how much nutrition advice is just based on old wive's tales and nutritional urban legend.
How are you feeling? How is your weight loss? Do you have enough energy to get you through the day?

11.5 pounds a month seems pretty solid to me! That's pretty much the rate I'm losing at and, if I keep it up, I'll reach my very aggressive goal by next May. Which would be amazing. :D
If you're getting your protein and liquids in, I wouldn't worry too much.

Because doctors aren't all-knowing nutrition deities? Just a thought. 1,000 calories sounds way high for someone 2 months out from VSG. Starvation mode is a complete myth and it's too bad that some doctors are perpetuating it.
