Hiccups and burping
It sounds like you might be drinking too fast or swallowing too much air. Try taking smaller sips? You could also try drinking with a straw, that might help.

According to what I've learned so far in my pre op journey, I will no longer be able to use a straw. The reason is exactly what you are experiencing now....gas.

Straws are only a problem if you suck in air while using one. For some people they actually have the opposite effect and help reduce air sucked in.

I am over a year out and those squeaky burps or hiccups is my full signal. I still get them at every meal.
