Boots of Inspiration

About a year ago, I purchased an expensive pair of tall leather boots.  I scoured the internet looking for tall boots that would fit my very large calves.  I was about 387lbs at the time.  I finally found a pair that I fell in love with and that I was certain would fit.  I shelled out quite a bit of money for these boots and was so excited when I received them only to be heartbroken when they were about an inch away from being able to be zipped up (and it would have been really tight with that inch!).  That experience was the straw that broke the camels back for me.  They pushed me into making decisions that would change my life forever.  I completely changed my life in so many ways and eventually had my VSG.  Today, 150lbs less, I am wearing those boots - OVER my thick boot socks and jeans.  AND, I can easily slide my hand inside them all the way to the bottom.  In other words, they are almost too big to wear.  I've worn them a few times before today but for some reason I'm feeling very proud and reflective today. 

I'm so glad I finally found the thing that pushed me over the edge.  What was/is your inspiration?

Wow, congrats! Your story is moving. A lot of things have triggered me into WLS. Of course, before I commit I would need more than one reason. It's who I am.. ;) 

Here is my list: 

I am diabetic. Insulin dependent, I have 3 kids and feel winded all the time, I need a self esteem boost, I want to live a long and healthy life and the road I am heading down does not make room for an over weight me. AND I am now in a size 16-18.. This is awful. Time to make a change. 

Why did you choose VSG instead of Gastric Bypass? If you don't mind my asking..
