I am planning on surgery in April.  Although my insurance does not required me to do a pre-op diet, I am working on my bad habits now and hope to get a head start on weight loss in the process.  How does one find a reliable scale?  Does anyone have one they recommend? With one one I have, if I stand on it ten times, I can get ten different readings.  Its really frustrating.

I bought a digital scale at Walgreens because I thought it would be more accurate - but I had the same problem with different readings.  Now that I'm under 325, I use the old-fashioned dial scale, which is very reliable.

Good luck on your upcoming surgery!

I love my Withings scale, but if you're a Fitbit user ID recommend the Aria instead.

I have this scale: http://www.amazon.com/Jobar-International-JB5824-Extra-Talking/dp/B004EFA6G0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1420722534&sr=8-3

It is nice and wide, talks to you, and is VERY accurate. It is always within .2lbs of both my doctors office and my surgeons office so no surprises. It is really cheap too, only $26

Try one out in the store if you can. Get on and off several times, and if it gives you the same weight, buy it.

This is the one I have and it's super-accurate....comes right in at what my doctor office scale does.

I have a basic digital scale from walmart that cost about $20 and it had served me well!  I keep it in the bathroom and weigh in the same spot every morning. I use the bathroom,  strip down to my undies, and weigh. It also has a feature that tracks your weight and does the math between your current and last number.
