How Long?

My wife and I had surgery on the same day, September 1. I don't seem to be losing any hair but she is like crazy. It's all over the bathroom.

It's a shame because I know how women are about their hair and I could care less.

My question is how long do you lose it? She started losing it about a month ago (about 3.5 months after surgery). I know it's only temporary but when will it stop? ... on average?

I'm not sure what's "average," but that's about when I started noticing more hair shedding too. It has slowed down to just a few strands when I wash my hair (my baseline) instead of a handful - I'm 9 months post-op. I have thick hair and a lot of it, so no one else would have ever noticed that my hair was thinner, thankfully!

The worst for me began at 3 months as well.  Clumps and clumps after every shower.  At almost 5 months it has slowed down significantly.  I have always had a TON of hair and now I have just "normal" to borderline thin hair.  It's noticeable to me but not really to anyone else.  Pics taken last week are in my profile.

Unfortunately, everyone is different. I was so upset and actually ordered a wig but never wore it. My hair finally stopped falling out too much after 1 year post op. It is very scary for us women, just be there for her and support her which sounds like you are already doing, so thank you. My husband could have cared less as well but my hair was long. I finally cut my hair just above my shoulders this year and I love it and it looks thick. Tell her to hang in there. When I don't get my protein, my hair starts it again. I am over 3 years post op now and I still feel like it comes out more than it should but I'm not bald yet!
