Losing my hair!
1 - hair loss is completely normal post-op. It'll pass and your hair will grow back.
2 - children's vitamins are for children. They're not complete enough for us. You can't get the recommended 1500mg of Calcium Citrate if you're only taking it twice a day.

Sometimes we have to be our own best advocates and do the healthiest/best thing instead of what the doctor recommends.

My dr had told me to take the flinstones chewable also, but the advice from the vets on this site said they are full of sugar and not enough adequate. I went to GNC and got th Womens Ultra Mega soft chew multivitamin, which seems to have everything, including 200% vit d3, except for calcium citrate. so I am out looking for that now. I also take 2 biotin of 5000 mcg each.
My surgeon's office also told me to take Flintstone complete vitamins. After hearing many others here state that they were not the best choice, I bought the Opurity vitamins (for bypass and sleeve patients). Way overpriced but worth it to me.

I will echo what Gwen said about children's vitamins...not good enough, find something else. Yes, even if your doctor's office told you to take them.
Also, google "telogen effluvium" to educate yourself on why we lose hair post-op. There's pretty much nothing you can do to stop it at this point. Make sure you are getting 80 grams of protein a day because protein deficiency can increase the loss that you see.
The hair loss will eventually slow down and stop and new stronger hair will grow in. But it can take a long time. My hair loss peaked around months 5-8 and at 19 months post-op I'm just getting it back to where it was before surgery. I'm a rather extreme case though.
