i'm having revision surgery on 1/30/15, I'm starting a preop diet on 1/17, 2 protein shakes a day, and a sensible evening meal, any helpful suggestions to get through this? What kind of protein/ shakes taste better? Also what supplements are you taking postop, I've been told multivits, calcium, biotin, and B12. I've been recommended to try premiere protein drinks and also whey protein, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I've tried several and found my favorite pre-mixed off the shelf protein shakes are the premier shakes and the protein content is great. My favorite powder is the Whey chocolate. I mix this with coffee, SF pudding, etc.  This phase (pre-op) diet is a tough one. I found the third day was the hardest. I was not allowed one meal a day, as I was on a total liquid diet.  I recommend you push through it by focusing on that one meal. I never got hungry, but I missed chewing food. It was a mind game for me.  Good luck! You can do it!

I also use the Premier Protein. Before surgery I liked the chocolate and the vanilla. After surgery, I can't stomach the vanilla so don't stock up. I take Citrical calcium citrate & D3 (400mg calcium & 500 IU of vitamin D) petites . 3 pills a day. B12 gummies Sundown 500 MCG a day. and a chewable multi vitamin with iron(Flintstone) All vitamins were approved by my surgeon. Pre-op diet is hard. Mine was the same as yours. 2 shakes, 1 meal. I only lost 5 lbs. Post-op has been hard too. I'm one of those who wants to eat. I didn't expect it to seem like such a strict diet. Thought it would be easier but I'm hanging in there. Good luck to you. I wish you success! My surgery went smoothly. No problems. No pain.

premier protein shakes also the chocolate since the surgery hate the vanilla , I have use powder in pudding , but am to lazy to mix it all the time the rtd is easier even though it cost a little more

your plan should tell you what supplements you should take

usually its 1200 mg calcium  citrate , 2 Flintstones vit  a day , and  b12 under the tongue  once a week , my plan does not call for extra biotin and my labs are good and I had little hair loss but it is brittle , I think lack of fat

My pre-op advice is to just stick it out.  The first 3-4 days are the worst and then it'll get better.

As for protein - we've all got different tastes.  My favorite is Optimum Nutrition Double Rich Chocolate.

I take the following based on my surgeon's recommendation, the ASMBS guidelines, and my own personal lab results.

#1 Calcium
#2 Multi, Calcium 500mg, Vitamin D 5000IU, Vitamin K 500mcg alternated with Vitamin K Complex 2200mcg, Probiotic
#3 Multi, Calcium
#4 Iron 125mg, Vitamin C 1000mg
In shake: current frankenshake ingredients
