Syntrax Nectar Vanilla with water?

Hi,

I currently use EAS carb control advantedge premade shakes, but I might be switching to Syntrax Nectar Vanilla Bean soon because it's way cheaper. My only concern is that my surgeon wants me to stay at 110 calories or below per shake and a scoop of the Syntrax is 100 calories. Adding almond milk is now out of the question; it'd be too many calories. Does anyone use this with water, and is it too thin? Or any other suggestions?

I've mixed them with water and it's fine, but honestly, I think your surgeon is micromanaging your calorie intake. Personally, I would ignore that directive. In the grand scheme of things, 30-40 calories from almond milk is not going to make that much of a difference. I've had a shake almost every day since surgery with almond milk.

I agree. My surgeon didn't express a concern. He said 60 gms of protein and 64 oz of water.  The premier protein are 30 gms with 160 calories.  I have 2 of those and one syntrax with water to equal 85 gms per day and 420 calories per day

I drank it with water along with syntrax matrix. Tastes great

Syntrax is a high quality protein. I would mix it would water but I would mix it with unsweetened almond milk in a heartbeat!  Worry about your carbs and protein. Calories are the last thing.

Main fact I have both in the house. Heading to the kitchen now!

Did your surgeon say how many grams of protein you are supposed to get for that 110 calories?  My surgeon wants a 10:1 ratio of calories to grams of protein.  My surgeon also expected 15 grams of protein per shake and the Syntrax is more than that, I'm pretty sure.  I also use soy milk instead of almond milk just because it has more protein and I like to get as big of a bang for my protein buck as I can.

I've never worried about calories, just portion size and protein.  So I wouldn't worry about the calories from unsweetened almond milk.
