I don't have a Gall Bladder...Am I not a canidate for VSG?
I am new to all the info on the VSG..I already have my gallbladder removed...I am reading a lot where people have had to have it removed after the VSG...I already don't have one so would that mean I am not a candidate for wls? I don't have a Dr to ask or anything..Again I am just now starting to research all of this..
It shouldn't exclude you, but only your bariatric surgeon can confirm whether you're a candidate.

Fairly often, people have their gallbladders removed during their WLS.

I had my gall bladder removed 20 years ago, had VSG 4.5 years ago. No problem. In and of itself, lack of a gall bladder will not exclude you from surgery. However, as a PP said, only your surgeon (and possibly your PCP) can determine, based on a thorough medical exam and a number of tests, whether you have any medical issues that would preclude WLS.
Ok well I have read a lot that after the VSG many people have to have their gall bladder removed because of gallstones. I don't have a gall bladder so I am thinking then I guess I couldn't get gallstones but what else could I get...I am at the very beginning of just research. If I did decide to have the surgery it would be like next year as I would take a year to research. Thanks for all the replies.
