Fast Food?

I was told no red meat until 6 months after which for me will be in May.

Does anyone have anything they order from the fast food menus when family eats out?  I have eaten chicken strips (can only eat 1 1/2 to 2 strips and I'm full).

Fast food isn't healthy for anyone in your family - so why not skip it all together?

Chicken strips are only a good option if they're grilled - not if they're breaded and fried.

Why no red meat!? I ate red meat as soon as I could eat purees, in fact my first meal was pureed roast beef. Sometimes I think nutritionist/surgeon's recommendations are just bonkers.

@ElizaM I was told by the nurse practitioner that red meat is harder to digest and needed to wait 6 months before eating.

As far as fast food goes, we don't eat it very often, but every now & again the family wants something quick and the only places near us are Sonic, Bush's Chicken, and Dairy Queen.  So I opt for the least "worst" and get chicken strips from Bush's.  Like I say, can only eat about 1 1/2 or 2 and I'm completely stuffed.  Prior to surgery, I could eat 6 or 7 with no problem.

Chili from Wendy's is always good. Grilled chicken sandwich/Burger with bun removed is another. I like the grilled chicken from KFC, it has tons of protein and not fried.

I think you need to push back with the NUT regarding things like no red meat, low fat this, etc. These type of things might be optimal but they may not be required. THat said, Mickey D's has a grilled chicken salad after you are cleared for greens.

It is ok but I tell you subway is so much better because I can pick what I want in it and get all spinach and no iceberg.

The grilled chicken nuggets at Chick-Fil-A are wonderful!  I try to go by and get them at least once a week.

I used to be a fast food junkie prior to surgery.  Now most of it just turns me off.  I prefer my own cooking, which is shocking in itself.

You can order a burger from In-N-Out "protein style" which wraps the meat in lettuce, not bread.

Wendy's chili is still a favorite of mine.

Grilled chicken strips are okay, not breaded.  Most fast food restaurants offer salads often served with grilled chicken.  I'll order those, eat the protein and a few of the vegetables without dressing.
