I made three 35 gram shakes a day and only ate other food if I was still hungry.  Most times, I would have another shake instead of solid food.  I did not start eating solids until after three months.

Was that by your choice?  Or your surgeon's plan?

I had no appetite or interest in food but would eat tiny amounts, like one ounce of tuna with mayo, or part of a chicken thigh cooked in sauce. The only thing I enjoyed was the ricotta with sauce. The shakes assured that I got in my protein.  I did track every bite on paper and review with the nutritionist.  She was mostly concerned with low carbs and high protein and approved of what I was doing.

While in weight loss mode, I had no rice, pasta, potatoes, flour, sugar, noodles, or breads.  At six months, I added one half slice of toast at breakfast.  I ate no fruit except sugar-free applesauce and frozen strawberries or blueberries.  I put the frozen berries into my shakes.  I had at least three shakes every day until 30 months out.

The amounts of food that I see some people eating right after surgery amaze and concern me.

I still never get hungry.

If you set a timer to go off every 15 minutes and drink 2 ounces each time, you'll have no problem reaching your liquid goal.

At 4 weeks out, I was eating three meals a day.  One was a protein shake and the other two were 3-4 ounces of soft solid food, like fish.

What are you eating?

The plan calls for three soft meals, which I try but I can only do two. Here's what I've had today:

B chocolate truffle PS 27 grams of Protein in 6 onz 1% milk 8:00am finished at 9am

30 minutes later I started 16 onz water.  Finished by 11:30

45 minutes  later (I need to stop drinks at least 30 minutes before eating) 1/2 of a small chicken strip and 1/4 cup of ricotta bake. Finished at 1:35

One hour later I started second 16 onz water finished at around 5:00 pm

I was too full so I waited til  7pm I ate 1/4 c 1% cottage cheese with about 3 tbs Greek yogurt.  Finished by 7:30.

waited one hour to start another 16 onz water bottle...and still working on it :/

Not sure exactly what your program calls for, but it sounds similar to mine except that I was told to only eat what I could within a 30 minute time frame. Up until 8 weeks out I often used protein drinks to get in all my protein on those days I just couldn't eat enough. that's okay in my book. I finally understood that the amounts that my program called for were goals for which to strive. As long as I got my protein from my shakes and kept hydrated my surgeon and NUT were happy.

It sounds to me like you still have ample swelling in your sleeve. That will go away gradually, if that is what it is. Drinking plenty of water will actually help the swelling reduce. Staying hydrated helps the body stop holding water. Try drinking 2 oz of water every 15 minutes. I found when I paced myself early out it was much easier to get all my liquid in each day.

Good luck!

Your plan looks similar to mine, but I was only allowed to eat for 30 minutes.

Me too! Sometimes I stop and can't finish. Then I have to wait 1 hour to start drinking.

Wow - why do you have to wait an hour to start drinking?!  Just because you feel too full or is that your surgeon's requirement?

I drink right up until I eat and wait for 30 minutes after eating to drink again.
