No pain pump, no drains..

Went to my seminar today, met my surgeon Dr. Houston here in Nashville. My husband was sleeved 2yrs ago in Richmond, va. He had a 2wk liquid pre op diet, a drain after surgery and a morphine pain pump while he was in the hospital.

Dr. Houston does a 2 day liquid preop diet, no drain, and no pain pump. Anyone else have no drain and no pain pump?

How did you manage post op, pain wise?

I had a pain pump the first day only I think. It actually made me pretty sick, and I did much better with the liquid roxicet I received.

I had no pain pump, no drains and no pain really. I think they gave me some morphine immediately after surgery and then it was tylenol for a day and then no need for anything. I had a really easy recovery. Hope yours is the same!

First day I had a morphine button I.V. where I could push button if I needed. Foe the second day in hospital, they gave me liquid Tylenol. When I got home, I was prescribed Oxycodone.

I had a pain pump till the next morning when they did the leak test then all meds where ether pills or liquid and the iv was removed at the same time drain was removed before I came home no pain from the removal just felt funny

hot towel does wonders for the shoulder pain from the gas (co2)

My VSG was a laproscopic procedure. No drains and no pain pump. I didn't have any issues with pain after the surgery. I was actually surprised at that the level of pain was much less than expected.

I didn't have a pain pump or a drain.  I got pain meds in my IV when I needed them and I didn't have any issues.

I had no pump, drain and I went home 6 hours after my surgery (laparoscopic ).  My pain on day 2&3 was from getting up out of the recliner and bed. I also was on a 2 week pre op diet .  As one patient said in the doctor office, "they got this down".

My surgery was lapro. I didn't have a pain pump or drain. I'm allergic to most of those heavy hitter drugs. On a scale of 1 - 10 my pain never went over a 6. It stayed dull but tolerable. I had drugs in the IV. It was mostly Motrin and Tylenol though. I was discharged on a Friday with a prescription but didn't take it past Saturday night.
