Post surgery I was told by my dr that I Could no longer take NSAIDS and have to use Tylenol. I injured my back and my PCP mentioned taking Aleve or Advil to reduce the inflamation. Are there any acceptable meds that would reduce inflamation?

Aleve and Advil are NSAIDs, and the ASMBS (and your surgeon) say that we can't take those.  Tylenol is not an anti-inflammatory.  Our only options for anti-inflammatories are steroids.

You could look into natural alternatives for anti inflammatories. I've upped my intake of ginger, flax seeds, and a few other things. You can do a google search for anti-inflammatory foods. I think it's helped. Of course it could be the placebo effect but I'll take less pain no matter what

I take Nsaids every so often (cancer patient, typically for post surgical pain/swelling) and my surgeon is just fine with that. I have not had an issue yet. I do try to take it with a little food or something to coat the stomach, and only take it every so often. Now if I reach a point due to arthritis or something where I felt I needed in persistently, then I would start looking for alterantives.

Another strategy I use and it helps is drinking green juice... using a juicer throw in a vareity of greens, a lemon, and an apple. The juice should be very green. The batch makes far more than I drink (family gets the rest). It really does help. This is not for everyone though, particularly during weightloss... although I did have this during the weight loss phase. I am not sure if it is going to reduce inflamation enough though for back issues. I can positively attest to sugar and other diet changes that can increase inflammation though.

My surgeon if fine with occasional use of nsaids and likes Aleve as an anti inflammatory.

Turmeric would be an herbal alternative.
