Where do your spouses/partners go for WLS-adjacent support?
Hi,
My husband is looking for some kind of online group with other spouses/partners of WLS patients. The spouses board on here seems pretty sparse. I think he just wants to ask random questions and rant about the 15 tubs of protein powder taking up (valuable) kitchen counter space. Where do your spouses/partners go? Is there a Facebook group or something I can refer him to?
Thanks so much!!!

LOLOL about the protein powder! My partner who is my sous chef feels the same annoyance at all of my supplement containers :D Since I mainly use one protein powder, which comes in 5-lb tubs, I did start keeping a "use" container that's much smaller on the counter so that the huge tub doesn't need to be there all the time :D
I don't know of a place he could go - just tell him that at least one partner out there commiserates with him :D

My poor husband thinks that my WLS is causing him to gain weight! He could probably use some support too. I used to be the family garbage can, I would finish the kids' foods, but now it is my husband and he finishes my food too! I told him to just throw it away, but it is hard. We don't like to be wasteful.
I say that it's better to waste than to waist! :D

My mom who had RNY about 10 years ago gave me a great idea for my post VSG food problems. My fiancé gets annoyed by all of the leftover food. I don't like to waste food so I'm eating the same thing over and over. But I was talking to my mom and she had a great idea.
Make the food you want (I do a lot of lean meat with some veggies), let it cool, then line a muffin pan with plastic wrap, twist tie it then freeze it. That way you have perfect little portions.
Thrown away, flushed away...what's the difference?

Im really glad you posted something about this. I'm over a year out of surgery, and my husband has been SUPER supportive. But I never stopped to think maybe he needs to speak with other spouses for support to deal with all the changes that I am going through - physically, mentally, and emotionally...so thanks!
