Is it different for RNY and Sleevers?

Also, a couple questions regarding slider foods?

* is yogurt a slider food?

* what about soups .. Low cal low carb versions

I am still in early post op so I haven't ventured far with different foods.

Thanks!

Janet

Pretty much anything that isn't a dense protein is a slider.  And sliders are things that won't give you a sense of satiety when you eat them.

Yogurt and protein shakes are sliders.  Soups are sliders.  Lots of carb things are sliders.  Chicken breast, steak, fish.. those things aren't sliders.  So it's always good, once you're cleared for all foods, to eat the dense proteins first.

Ok ... Thanks!

one more question...

Do we still absorb the protein and stuff from yogurt and protein shakes ... Since they are sliders?

Yes.  They're just sliders because they don't make us feel full and, therefore, we can eat more of them than we should eat.

Got it!  Thanks so much!

Tonight I had 5 small bites of fish and about 1/4 cup of homemade broccoli soup ( low cal, low carb version) that I found online.  I was then worried that the soup was a waste ...   It was nice to eat with the family!

I think a slider food is the same for everyone no matter what surgery you've had. I think of slider foods as those things that won't fill you up & has a lot of calories & carbs. Like I consider ice cream a slider food, just sugar, passes right thru to your intestines, doesn't fill you up & leaves you wanting more.

I guess yogurt can be considered a slider food only cuz I don't think you can fill up on it but it wouldn't derail weight loss. Dense foods stick around, slider foods slides right on down, but the slider you pick can either help weight loss or toss it out the window, at least that's how I look at it.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel
