The prep for a colonoscopy does suck.  You've got to drink nasty stuff and then sit on the toilet for a long time until your bowels have nothing more to give.  It's really crummy.

But.. you got to do what you got to do and you can do this.  The procedure itself is a breeze :D

Yes, go ahead and get it done because this type of screening it will be nice to have it behind you. As Gwen noted, the prep is the worst part. You will be delightfully medicated for the procedure.

Getting down the prep liquids might be harder with a new, possibly sensitive sleeve.  But otherwise, the action of the prep happens much lower in the GI tract.

Tip for your prep... Buy a pack of crystal light to go sticks to add to the glass of prep. Makes it a lot more tolerable.

It depends upon your doctor what the prep will be. Mine used over the counter laxatives (in massive quantities!) along with Gatorade (I used G2). That wasn't so bad tasting. Bring a book into the bathroom with you, and pat, don't wipe!

I encourage everyone I know over 50 to get one. I waited until I was 54, and if I had waited much longer I could have died because they found cancer that had been there for some time. Thank goodness it was still stage 1, but because it keeps coming back I had to go in ever six months for the procedure. Finally I'm down to annually. It's not a lot of fun, but it sure is better than the alternative!
