A little longer than I had expected.

Just found out today that I will have after this month, two more weigh-ins with my doc. I thought I would be done this month. A little disappointed, but then again, it gives me another two more months to try to lose some more weight. My last weigh-in will be in January. Of course, dieting during the holiday months is always a fun time, but I'll make it work somehow. I'm not usually tempted by the usual sweets, just good ol' home cooking that does it. I will really have to be in touch about portion control, Thank goodness for fitness pal.

So, after Jan, sometime I hope! I'm really going to give it my all these last two months. Wish me luck!

Good luck! You can do it! I have found that if I keep telling myself that something that I really want tastes nasty, then I start to not even wanting it anymore. Maybe that would help some for you also! My surgery is scheduled next Tuesday, so I understand the stress of waiting. I have been on this journey for 14 months now.

Great attitude! I know it can be dissapointing to be so close, and then have it moved just a little like that. Karik refers to the time between Halloween and Christmas as the eating season, and rightfully so. Sleeved or not that will still be a period where all of us need to be mindful. The one fantastic thing I learned via the sleeve is that you can really enjoy the festivities and still make smart, mindful choices. Prior to this process it was always a field day for me, but no more! I love that you mentioned that you will use this time to shed a few more pounds. IMHO these are the most important pounds you shed during the entire process- it helps you to adjust to post sleeve life and makes that transition so much easier, and gets you closer to goal in a way that is hard to wrap your heas around pre-sleeve. Surgury helps a ton, but the 10 or 20 pounds lost prior to surgury means that you don't have to lose them at the end of your weight loss phase, and that is golden given people tend to have fatigue around 6-8 months out. Good luck in your process!

Best of Luck.  I like your attitude.  The more weight you lose before surgery, the easier it will be to get to goal.  I lost 50 pounds before surgery and I was so happy I did.  When you are in the worst of the readjustment time, you will be seeing big changes in your appearance and it will help your spirits!

good luck,

Carol

The delay is a bummer but I bet knowing the surgery is around the corner will help you stick to your plan.

I started my pre-op diet just before Thanksgiving last year.   There was surprising relief in knowing what I could/would eat ahead of time which allowed me to enjoy the spirit of the holiday.  And no regrets after the meal was novel, too.  A much better experience than I expected!

Good luck!

Thanksgiving to Easter is rough for diets. All those good foods and sweets to avoid staying away from parties to avoid temptations. It is not easy but if we all support each other we can do it

Between Easter and Thanksgiving there are open houses, showers, weddings, cookouts, reunions, vacations, fairs and festivals, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Halloween.

My hardest time is from Thanksgiving to New Years Day.  On January 1 I make my annual resolution and stick to it until any holiday weight gain is gone.
