It's been 1 year today since my VSG. I reached my goal at 10 months and have been learning maintenance. I'm in a stressful situation with my Husbands health, we just found out he has Cancer among his other health problems. I have for years been a stress eater, but I have not been overeating. I have been crying in a nice warm bath a lot though. I don't want to cry in front of him so much. It helps me to relieve the stress without stuffing it down with food. I'm so glad I had the surgery. I feel like I'm better equipped to handle whatever comes along.

So very sorry that you and your husband are going through this.....will keep both of you in my prayers......sadly, three of my friends are in the same boat, so my prayer list is growing unfortunately.

On the other hand, congrats for reaching goal, for being 1 year out and most of all for being strong enough to not stuff those stressors down with food as a sedative.

Stay strong as much as possible and know that you have a super support system hear......reach out any time you need help.

Good friends are like stars.
You don't always see them but you always know they're there.

I'm so sorry that you're going through this.  "I'm so glad I had the surgery. I feel like I'm better equipped to handle whatever comes along."  This really resonates with me.  I remember feeling similarly during my dad's cancer battle.  I was so grateful that I had done so much to shore up my own foundation so that I could be healthy and face whatever I needed to in order to support him.

It sucks, and I'm sorry.
