Omeprazole post-op

VSG on 10/09/17

Did you have to take omeprazole post-op? If yes, for how long, & how did you take it before being able too swallow a capsule?

VSG on 09/28/15

I did for about the first year and a half after surgery then I weaned myself off of it. Before I was able to swallow the pill I would open the capsule and put it in a bite of sugar free applesauce or Greek yogurt.

Had VSG on 9/28/15

Lost 161 lbs since surgery, LOST 221 lbs overall so far!!

Yes. The Rx says up to 3 months, at which time my surgeon will assess.

I take a dissolvable tablet (I'm one week post-op).

Referral - 05/16, Orientation @ HRH - 19/08/16, Surgeon - 06/04/17, NUT/SW/RN - 26/6/17 VSG - 11/10/17 Pre-Op - 27 lbs M1: 22 lbs M2: 14 lbs M3: 11 lbs M4: 13 lbs M5: 9 lbs M6: 9 lbs M7: 7 lbs

I took nexium for 3-6 months post-op. The pills were small enough that I could swallow them from day 1 after surgery.

Thanks! Nexium option sounds way more palatable, it's what they gave me in the hospital. Will ask my dr. about switching.

My surgeon had me take them for 2-3 months, after I was able to swallow a capsule. I haven't needed it since then.

I was given a prescription for a 30 day supply of omeprazole. The doctor said after that it's up to me but he doesn't think it's necessary.
