Hi there! I am new to this group and I had a couple of questions! I am having surgery tomorrow 11/29/18 ... yay... with a starting weight of 275 lbs at 5'7.

I am nervous that I will not be able to lose all the weight I want. I also have a 1 year old that may make the recovery a bit difficult. Did anyone have a 1 year old and how did you handle that?

First, throw that negative attitude away! You can do it! I think having a 1 year old may be helpful. Take him/her out in the carriage and walk, walk, walk. It will be good for both of you. If you are determined and focus, you will have success.

You will do a wonderful job, even with a 1 year old! I was 65 last year when I had my surgery, I was not sure if I could/would lose the weight -- but I hit goal at about 7 months out. I didn't have the ability to exercise regularly, and even so, by following the program it worked. And it works to keep my weight at goal with no effort.

You'll be in my prayers in the morning.

My son was 11 months old when I had my surgery and I think it helped enormously. I didn't have time to feel sorry for myself, I just got on with it - needs must and all that! I was solely responsible for him from day 3 after surgery and so didn't take any narcotics after surgery day.

He and I would go on long walks with the stroller a couple of times a day, which was very good for both of us! We even joined a local walking/running group the week after surgery.

I lost all my excess weight and some (120lbs) in about 5 months.

He's now a 6ft 6" sophomore!!!!

Good luck with your surgery and weight loss
