Hi, had my gastric sleeve done on Wednesday and trying to get fluids down, walking and drinking the broth, sugar-free jello and drinking isopure water. However, I am experiencing an awful headache on my left temple.

Hi! I just had mine on Monday, July 22. I tend to experience headaches if I am not hydrated enough. Here is what works for me: I drink my 3 8oz protein shakes that I was on during my pre-op to get my 60 ozs of protein. I also have bottled water that I drink in between, herbal tea. It's really hot here, so I haven't eaten the broth yet. I do love the sugar free tropical icicles (from WalMart). They also are hydrating. Before my surgery, I had a supplement called Spark from Advocare and it has always given me energy and it is made with 8 ozs of water. Hope this helps! I am learning too .

Hi goldn02girl,

Thank you so much for your advice. I will pick up sugar-free popsicles tomorrow. I will start with protein shakes tomorrow as well. Your suggestions are appreciated.

The headache is probably from the anesthesia. It will get better soon. Just push the fluids in whatever form you need to. Extra fluids make everything a little better.

I agree, needed more fluids. How long does the bloating and soreness last?

Hi, nice to hear from someone who had the surgery recently. I am doing so much better. I drink my protein shake in the morning and sip on Isopure protein water during the day alternating sips with water and have soup/bone broth for meals. This has helped ward off headaches and of course, walking at least every 30 minutes.

How are you doing?

This can be a reaction to pain meds. If it feels like a hangover I would ask for a milder pain pill. I definitely had these issues in the past.
