Third day home and having weird shortness of breath. A feeling like the stomach has dropped...

Hi all, I am new here. I had my surgery Aug 30, and so far everything has been okay. Besides for last night, I was awoken by a pain. Like it felt like my stomach was creating a collapse on my lung. I couldn't lay down, nor sit up. I guess it could just be residual air that was pumped inside me from the surgery. Also, I haven't been able to make a bowel movement. All in all I am excited to lose weight, but I find myself already scared about future regain.

Let me know your thoughts

Shortness of breath and being awoken by pain is unusual after VSG. I'd give your surgeon a call. I wouldn't expect you to have much residual air inside you this far out. Maybe it's nothing, but I'd want to be sure.

Definitely call your surgeon to ask about the pain. That doesn't sound normal to me.

If you haven't had a bowel movement yet, you might want to try a stool softened (Colace) or some Miralax to get things moving.

I ended up being rushed to ER last night. Turns out. Pulmonary embolism.

Oh my! That must have been pretty scary. Hope everything is OK now.
