Bruising around Laparoscopic incision? 4 days post-op

Hello!  I am new to the forum.  Had my Laparoscopic RNY last Tuesday - 4 days post-op.  Did anyone have bruising come up around the laparo entry points after the surgery.  Five of the points are just the regular one in*****ision, the final one developed into a 4" red/black bruise - not sore, not hot, doesn't seem infected - just a big ole' bruise?  Any ideas?

Yes, the bruising is normal. I had bruising around several of my incisions. It will go away.

I am 8 days post-op.  Had lap RNY also.  I have a bruise around one of the incisions.  The one in the middle of my belly (lol).  It must be normal (OK define normal lol).  My doesn't hurt either.  I am a big chicken and haven't really looked at my incisions.  Thank God my surgeon uses disovalable (spelling) stitches.   I feel great, not pain meds necessary, Just the usual itching from the healing process.

Hang in there.

Congrats on your surgery. I had mine almost a month ago. I didn't have bruising at my lap sites, but I did have a huge 4-5 inch bruise at the site of my first Lovenox shot that I got just before surgery. That one is still fading.

I had my surgery last Monday and one of my five incisions is more bruised and sore than the others.  My surgeon said it was the one in which he did multiple instrument insertions and withdrawals.  Since he is left-handed it is the one on the right side of my body.  I assume that if your surgeon is right handed, it would be the one on your left side - but that's just a theory.

I too had brusing at only one of my incisions, it lasted about 3 weeks but it was all good, just something that happens from surgery and takes a few days to 'come' up Good luck Ruth Ann

My belly was a thing of beauty after LAP RNY.  NOT!!!  Between the bruising around my incisions and the Lovenox shots and the raw spots from where I had to pull tape off to change my drain bandage I looked like someone had beat the heck out of my tummy.  Not to worry.  6 weeks out and I am starting to look normal...sort of ;-) Welcome to the losing side by the way! -m

I also had some BAD bruising and I was told that the Lovenox shots were the cause. I guess it makes sense since it is a blood thinner lol. Congrats to us all!

I had lapband not RNY but I had a magnificent bruise. Started black, became blue and then multi-coloured - very fetching!! I assumed it was because of the blood-thinning injection I am told that my doc gives his patients in case of embolisms. Certainly my blood was reluctant to clot - when they took the canula out of the back of my hand I looked down after a minute and found the blood was just flowing down my hand and pooling on the floor! Quite dramatic! The bruise took a full 2 weeks to go.   Kate

hello fellow July baby -- I had my surgery on Wednesday and boy do I have bruising. It's very normal -- 1 from the incision sites, and also from the Heprin shots... they cause major bruising.  I look like I have been hit by a truck. Not to be gross or anything, but how are you fixed for gas pains... I am belching and other wise.. .and the first night in the hospital all the Co2 they used congregated in my shoulders and neck -- I could barely breath and they had to keep my on O2 until I got up and moved around on day 2.   Each day is getting better and I feel better.  Today I actually went out and brushed my horse... (My trainer rode and dealt with him) but I did walk to the barn and arena.  It was great. Good luck on the bruising and can't wait to be better soon.
