I was wondering the same thing.  This comes directly from their website. GreySheeters Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from compulsive overeating.  The only requirement for membership is the desire to stop eating compulsively.

Grey sheet is a (low carb) meal plan that some people in OA use to lose large amounts of weight fast.  This group only uses this one plan, which is best for them. They have telephone meetings that you can listen to which helps with the emotional, psychological and physical cravings that we have around the food.   Check it out sometime.  Won't hurt. Hope you are having a good day.  Take good care. Nadine

A Grey sheeter is someone who weights and measures their meals off a food plan that is low in carbs and sugar. the food plan is called the "Grey Sheet" (because of the color paper in was first printed on.) They also only eat 3 meal a day, nothing in-between bu****er, diet soda or coffee, works with a sponsor and calls in their food everyday and theyalso  write down the meals daliy.

I belong To Overeaters Anon, although I have not been in a meetin in a while.  Gray sheet is based on the food plan. Intially, OA had pre-set food plans.  They were based on the color of the sheet they were intitally printed on. i.e Grey sheet=low carb plan, Orange sheet=vegeterian plan what ever.  OA no longer endorses food plans.  But there are some meetings that evolve around the plan.  Grey sheet tends to be rather strict.  They are no longer based on OA philosophy.  There is also a "branch" of OA meetings called HOW (Honesty Openmindedness and Willingness) that tend to be VERY strict and love the premade sheet thing.  Personally, I think it goes against all that OA is about.

Yeah you are right about OA doing away with meal plans but it is my understanding that they have a new pamphlet with meal plans that are available.  I started in OA in the mid 80's and lost alot of weight on the grey sheet but needed help so I had the surgery.   The telephone meetings are great and I listen to them all the time to stop the obsessive food thougths and cravings and continue to work on my emotional and spiritual life.  The surgery will help with the physical. Hope all is well with you and thanks for writing.  Nadine

I believe I could NEVER have made it thru the weight loss surgery portion of my life if not for discovering OA in the 80s during previous weight loss experiences.  Although the weight didn't stay off before (which I believe is due in a large part to genetic and metabolic components), the methodologies, realizations and tools provided by OA are crucial to anyone who has issues with food.  It is truly lifesaving.  And when it comes to sanity, it is essential.  Remember, eating disorders (overeating, anorexia, bulimic) are threefold in nature ... They affect us physically, emotionally and spiritually.  But if you've been in program this long, you already know that *wink* ... It is extremely helpful for so many to post this.  If just one finds the comfort and support that I found in OA decades ago, it is well worth the effort. Thank you.  God bless and Good luck!
