Dr. Phil's "Fat Intervention"

Dr. Phil needs an intervention. He needs to be reminded that he is a human being. I used to like his no nonsense advice (for the most part) but I am also skeptical of any "psychologist" that would dispense mental health advice to people he cannot follow up on. How could he possibly think he could change a life time of behavior and hurt with a 5 minute segment! He is a catch word charlatan that sells diet bars as his magical elixar. I have caught the segments on the dysfunctional family and I am totaly disgusted! I thnk this family had a real potential to heal and grow if it were not for their dirty laundry beign exploited by Dr Phil. I hope he is the one footing the bill for that poor little baby for the rest of his life, but unfortunately I feel it will be the taxpayers.

ok, here is just a random thought--what got most of us here to begin with? Eating. And why do most of us eat? To seek comfort when we feel bad about ourselves. And what things make us feel bad about ourselves? When people put us down or make us feel bad about being heavy. When people yell at us, or make us feel like failures. When people shove our weight in our face. Am I right? So, Dr. Phil thinks he has the inside "skinny" on how to motivate fat people to lose weight? He thinks this intervention will work? If his intervention is anything like how he handles other issues (chastising, yelling, telling people they are stupid for feeling a certain way) I don't see how this would possibly work. If that happened to me, and I was brought on national tv with it, I would probably end up locking myself in my room and eating myself silly. Or maybe I have the problem????????????? Anyway, I don't agree with Dr. Phil's tactics, and I feel he handles the issues of obesity with an obvious lack of sensitivity and tact. Can't wait until his show is cancelled--Oprah, you created a monster!

yes in-deedee, Dr Phil's phat head is getting him into a bad place. His comment about knocking some sense into these people makes me want to puke. He is promoting phat phobia. "Lets turn in our neighbor, maybe we can get on the show and let everyone see the shame we have to live next door to...." When I think about the damage this man is doing to the emotional wellbeing of people,(because we are people dr phil), I wonder how he can sleep at night. Probably lines his mattress with all the money he extorts from the people he embarasses. I feel bad for the people that are going to be put in that circus he calls Intervention. Shame, Shame

Oh my God!! The man is scary. I agree he is promoting discrimination against fat people and on national TV. It just proves that it is still acceptable to discriminate against fat people. And he makes money from it too. He is sick and so are his sponsors and the TV station too. Maybe we should ban the products and write letters, etc to his sponsors about this. If the sponsors stop paying, the show stops. Just an idea.

Did you notice his sponsors were jenny craig and just my size? Stop buying their products and let them know why. I bet that will be the only intervention that will work on good ol' Dr Phil,

I say Dr. Phil should have the show and just use a full sized mirror, using himself at the person he needs to intervene! Maybe he can see that he too has grown, in more ways then one!!!!!
