I am scheduled to have bypass surgery on October 27th.  I am allergic to a lot of environmental things.  I know that Asthma, which I also have, often goes away with weight loss.  But, has anyone had their allergies go away or lessen in severity.  I have also heard that sight often improves with bypass surgery.

I have bad allergies and they didn't change after the surgery.   I still get allergy shots once a month and take Xyzal daily - great little allergy pill - it is tiny and easy to swallow.  It is fairly new and similar to zyrtec.

rbb825, thanks for your reply, I have my pre-surgery exam on Monday.  I will talk to my Dr. about Xyzal.  I almost bought my year-supply of generic Zyrtec at Costco but, thought I better see if I can still take that.  I don't need allergy shots YET.  Zyrtec usually seems to work, even though I am allergic to cats, rabbits and small rodents and I work at a vet clinic.  Some cats bother me more than others and fortunately we don't see too many rabbits and rodents.

My allergies are the same as they were before, but I find that before I used to have allergies develop into respitory infections and my allergy symptoms would knock me out sometimes.  Now, I rarely get sick and I can handle my allergies better.  It may just be that I take so many vitamins and eat healthy now, so my body can handle the allergies better.
