Mucus in Stool? Sorry for TMI

I had VSG on Nov. 19th. I've noticed the last 2 times I've had a bowel movement, when I wipe, it looks like someone sneezed into the toilet paper. Like there is mucus. Its kind of freaking me out a bit. I dont see any blood or anything like that. I have no pain. Everything seems completely normal and I feel great but just wondering what could be causing this. Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea what would cause such a thing?

Hello----I had that during my second week after surgery.  I was still in the hospital at the time (due to breathing problems in surgery), but my Doc didn't seem too concerned when I told him.  If I were you, though I would call my surgeon.  They always say to call if ya have a question.

PS.  what does TMI mean??

Thanks Cindy. I'll keep an eye on it and if it doesn't seem to be getting better, I'll call my doctor.

TMI means "to much info".

Mucus in stool is normal and nothing to worry about.  Your entire colon is lined with mucus and without alot being put into your body right now, some of it may come out along the way.  Believe it or not, even people with no WLS will poop some mucus from time to time.  I wouldn't worry.

I had a VSG on November 18th.  I also experience mucus in my stools.  But I have also experenced it when I ate too much and had that yucky full feeling where you throw up.  The doctor told me that the body makes mucus as a defense and assistant to the organs.

I haven't had the problem recently, but 4 years ago (way before WLS****pt having it, and my doctor said I should have a colonoscopy. Since I was 44 and my mom had a history of breast cancer and diverticulitis, I decided to do it. (Piece of cake, by the way. The prep is a hassle, but the procedure? It's nothing.) I did have two polyps, but they were benign. I'm not trying to scare you, truly. But if the problem persists, talk to your PCP about your age and your family health history. Don't fear a colonoscopy, if it's recommended. It's painless and quick - your butt doesn't even hurt.

I have actually had a colonscopy before. About a year ago. They did remove a benign polyp. I had a tube down my throat and a tube up my butt. Wasn't very much fun but the worse part of all was the prep. That salty lemony drink was HORRIBLE. Thinking about ever having to drink it again, makes me wanna cry. Gross.

I will just see if it keeps happening and if it does, i'll mention it to my doctor. Thanks all.
