Citric Acid in Crystal Light

I have noticed that crystal light, jell-o and several other items contain Citric Acid to create the tangy taste.  Does anyone have problems with this?  After one crystal light the next day I get those little white bumps on my tongue that my mother always said was lie bumps, by my ENT says I have to much acid in my stomach and the tongue reacts with bumps.

Anyone drink anything that DOESN'T have Citric Acid in it? I really don't like plain water but that is what I have been reduced to!!!

I pretty much just drink water or plain green tea as I don't care for Crystal light-it is too sweet to me. But it never bothered my tongue-I never heard of that. I have recently fallen in love with Snapple Diet Green Tea Peach flavor but I just looked at it and it has citric acid too. What about the flavored waters?

My Nut says that there's a new product on the market - special K protein water - powder - that is sugar free, and, has no citric acid. This is vitally important for me as I have ulcers and citric acid is like poison for me right now.

I would imagine the citrus flavors do still have citric acid maybe...not sure...haven't seen it in stores yet.

But if you see it, take a look at the label...she also says the product has an entirely different mouth feel than crystal light.

enjoy!

My local supermarket carries the Special K protein water, it has 5g of protein - it calls for 16 - 20oz of water and I find it a little sweet so I max the water that I add to it - the bad new is that citric acid is the 3rd ingredient in it.

The citric acid works on my system too.  My tongue also gets the bumps on it.  I try not to drink anything with citric acid in it due to the very hurtful bumps.

I have a problem with Crystal Light post-op as well.   I switched to Propel and I love it.   Yes, it has 10 calories per packet but, after I switched, I have NO problems getting my liquids in.

I have had kidney stones for years, and was told to SEEK OUT  drinks with citric acid, to help with the stones. I get citrate in any form as well, such as with any of my supplements that come in a citrate form.
