OK, tell me something wrong with the Morningstar Veggie Patties/NOT Sausage patties
LOL I'm not far enough out to eat them yet but have read where many do -- gives me something to look forward to. I would tend to be like you because so far I'm not liking much of anything lol. I'm still looking for a vitamin and calcium I can stand to eat as well as sample protein shakes.
Hope nobody bursts your bubble. I will be watching for my future reference.
Have a nice day!

Off topic from the morningstar but I just read your post about protein shakes. Have you tried the unjury yet? I tried just about everything I could buy in the store and can't stand any of them. I just got my sample pack from unjury last night. I had the strawberry sorbet for dinner and just had the chocolate in my coffee this morning. I am not one who usually goes out of my way to promote a product - but I have to say - this stuff is actually good.
I had a really hard time with my 2 week liquid diet after the surgery. Couldn't stand the protein shakes I had to drink - so much so that I have not been very good about having them like I should now...but with these 2 I have tried from unjury - they have both been actually good.
I hope this helps. My sample pack came with 2 envelopes of each kind and a thermometer and mixer. All for $23 and some change.

SO Funny! I've been a vegetarian since I was 12 (trust me that was awhile ago) and I LOVE morningstar products! I posted awhile back trying to turn people onto their products - such a great source of protein.
Have you tried the sausage patties - 10 grams of protein in each patty. I have it with some applesauce to keep it moist - yum.
And for those that can't tolerate chicken anymore - they have chicken patties. A little red sauce and a slice of cheese and you have a protein packed parm!

If you have a thyroid issue, keep in mind that you should avoid soy products close to your thyroid medicine for 4 hours. It was once thought (and is still thought by many) that people with thyroid should avoid soy all together. My nutritionist told me to avoid soy 100% because I'm hypothyroid, but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore (however, I expect that to change next week!).
In fact, thyroid meds don't like much of anything for 4 hours.

Question
Soy: Does it worsen hypothyroidism?
Is it true that people who have hypothyroidism should avoid soy?
Answer
from Todd B. Nippoldt, M.D.
Hypothyroidism is generally treated with synthetic thyroid hormone — and soy has long been thought to interfere with the body's ability to absorb the medication. However, there's no evidence that people who have hypothyroidism should avoid soy completely.
If you have hypothyroidism, take thyroid hormone replacement as directed by your doctor — typically on an empty stomach. Generally, it's best to wait four hours after taking thyroid medication to consume any products that contain soy. The same guidelines apply to other products that may impair the body's ability to absorb thyroid medication, including high-fiber foods, iron and calcium supplements, and antacids that contain aluminum or magnesium.
Wow Andrea, I never knew that. I was diagnosed with with hypothyroidism one month before WLS. I really do not eat any meat, expect for fish. I have always been a huge soy advocate. It really helps to consume soy if you are a migraine suffer, which I was. I am only 6 weeks out and was so happy when I could eat my soy veggie burgers and sausage links-and my pouch liked them. I actually asked my Nut about spacing out my synthroid, iron and calcium, she had no clue. Her advice, take iron in the morning and calcium at night....I asked what about the synthroid? She had no clue. I always take it in the morning empty stomach, an hour before eating anything. I guess I will have to look more into soy and hypothyroidism. Thanks again for the interesting info!
When I pulled that link, it seemed an equal number of links were "soy will make hypothyroidism worse!" so I'm thinking that it's either outdated info OR it's along the lines of "carbonation will ruin my pouch" and "30g of protein at one time" "rules" that have perpetuated over time.
Mayo clinic, however, tends to be pretty much backed by current info, so I'd go with their opinion on this.
ETA: if you have migraines, you know about B2 and magnesium, yes?
