pork rinds swelling in pouch?
To me it depends on the company that makes them. I bought a big bag that was plain flavor and these rinds were pretty BIG so I was gonna just eat one and count it as 5-7 rinds and everytime I ate them they would get stuck in my throat so I slowed down and they kinda jelled in my mouth. I didn't eat rinds again for awhile because I just thought it was me and I wouldn't be able to have them anymore but I did buy one of the regular size bags in both spicy and bbq (the small rinds) and I can eat those no problem. I read here on the OH site that some crunch them up and use them as a breading for chicken. Sounds yummy.

Okay, I have an idea....you have people saying they do swell and others saying they don't. I don't know I haven't had any since surgery. How about taking one, laying it in a bowel and adding some warm (body temp) water? Certainly, stomach acids do break down better then water would, but it would be interesting to see what it did if anything. If it did swell, then it might want to be something you don't wanna eat. But if it started to disolve it might be. Just my opion......

Have you tried the microwave pork rinds from Susan Marias web site? They are great and I have no problems with them and I do have problems with the ones I buy in the bag. These are 130 cal. per 1 oz. serving, 4gr. fat, 0 colesterol, less than 1 gram of carb, and 23 grams of protein. You pop them up freas in the micro and they are very good. Both plain and bbq.
If you crave the pork rind taste occasionally there is a brand at Walmart that looks like a bag of microwave popcorn. You put it in the microwave for 2 minutes and they cook up to a nice crispy- but not break your dental work- crunchy.
They are modest in calories and almost all protien. 0 carbs and like 1 gram of fat per serving. They are hot and crunchy- really hit the spot occasionally. They haven't upset my stomach. I couldn't stand the ones in the bag but these microwave pork rinds are great. I eat about 5 or 6 and the munchies monster is conquered.
