Hungry all the time

Hi all,
It's been so long since I posted. I'm struggling, there's no doubt about that.  I lost about 115 lbs total and never got THIN but was pretty happy with my loss.  I am 4 years out, still follow the rules (most of the time), in menopause and started on Synthroid for my thyroid about 4 months ago.  I am soooooo hungry all the time!!  I'm talking about hunger like the first few days of a new diet kind of hungry.  This is relatively new, as in the past 2 months.  Anyone else experience something like this?

I experience this 24/7 before I had my revision to the DS. If you are having it for the same reason that I had, then it is due to your blind stomach manufacturing the hunger hormone, ghrelin, as if there is a famine. You can verify this by filling your pouch, and even stuffing it, yet your brain continues to scream, "feed me."

If this is the case, then revision to the DS will rid you of this problem entirely.

Another thing that will cause hunger is eating simple carbs. Try a high protein, low carb diet and watch the hunger disappear.

I don't know why you've suddenly become constantly hungry this far post-op---but *I* was constantly hungry my entire LIFE pre-op. I agree with Yehuda that is has something to do with the greater curvature of the stomach, where most of the body's ghrelin is produced---that tissue is removed from the body in the DS, and that has 'fixed' my hunger problem. I now have what I consider 'appropriate' hunger.
