F*ck 'em.
Endorsers of particular WLS think that what they "believe in" is fool proof. If it's fool proof, then they are correct to believe in it. If it's got flaws or holes, then they're wrong for believing in it.
People will make up different rules for the crap band from corner to corner. Ignore it all and figure out what works for you and do just that.

Did you notice that the omnipresent "they" are also trying to change how to define success, so that what we all knew as failure is now success?
Remember when EVERYONE knew that the goal post was the loss of AT LEAST 50% of your excess weight? If you weighed 300 pounds and should have weighed about 150 and lost down to 225, your surgey was a success and any heavier was a failure. Right?
Only the band seldom works that well and there is a group...somewhere, and I don't remember right now...positing that the loss of 40% of excess weight should be considered a successful surgery. So that same patient who weighed 300 and should have weighed about 150 would be considered a success if she got down to 240.
Like Vanity Sizing in clothes, but more costly and more deadly.
