OMG shoot me! I hardly got any sleep bc I itch so much. Had RNY about a week ago on 4/25 and yesterday it started so bad. I was told not to touch it. I dont touch the incisions, but I HAVE to itch around it or I might die, though thats not helping any. Is there any relief? I bet not. How long will this last?

I had the same thing--come to find out I was allergic to the tape they used. Mine lasted about a week or so.

I bought some cream(an itch reliever) and just put it around it as much as allowed. It's hard not to scratch it--I did alot of patting the belly!

Itching can be an after effect from anesthesia... I had it for weeks I used to take prescription Benadryl.  I had a lot of sedation because I was in the OR for surgery and back again the following day for another 6 hours or so because of a postop complication.  The itching got so bad one time it felt like my whole body was itching/on fire .. so bad I jumped in the shower and it did not help it seemed like the itchiness was from the inside out ... it drove me nuts... and took weeks to go away.

Contact your MD or PCP and let them know and see if you can be prescribed anything.  I was given Benadryl and it really did help.  I do not know if this is your case.

Hope you can address this and feel better.  Wishing you nothing but the best on your journey.

I had this and it was from the adhesive (dermabond) used to close the wound and make the steri strips stick...I basically exfoliated it off with a scrubby bath mitt in the shower every day for a couple of weeks and it went away...

BTW...you need an avatar...

Here is some very useful info about itching after surgery. Hope you feel better soon!

Most people experience sensations of itchiness while surgical cuts are healing. This is because the nerve endings around the cut are being triggered as it heals. Because the itching sensation is being caused beneath the skin, treatment may be difficult.
