So sometimes when I get up from a laying down position I get this funny feeling like I am going to pass out but it goes away.  This moring I got up and actually passed out.  It was a weird pass out not like when I give blood.  I came out of it really quickly but I found myself on the floor.  Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone know what causes it?

I have.

Do you know what your blood pressure is currently? When this happened to me several times it turned out that my bp was way too low.

Sometimes getting up more slowly helps, but if you've actually passed out you need to see your doc ASAP.

Take care and please keep us posted. =)

I passed out last September from dehydration.  You need to make sure that you are drinking the minimum requirement each day, especially in the heat.  You need to make sure to let your doctor know.

Google 'orthostatic hypotension', and, if you are on BP reducers, you may need to reduce your dosage or go off of the meds.  See your doc.

Good luck, and hth,

If you're not getting enough liquids into your system, your blood will thicken and will not be able to pump properly. When this occurs, your brain will not receive oxygen. Your body will shut down.

Drink more water!!!

Good luck.

Sounds like orthostatic hypotension which is most frequently caused by dehydration.  You need to be seen by a Dr. though to confirm that it's not something more serious and to address why you are dehydrated.  In the meantime, push fluids.  Do you take BP Meds or diuretics?  Also have you been vomiting or having diarrhea? that could be the culprit as well if so.

If you cant get in with your regular Dr or surgeon, maybe even go to a walk-in clinic/urgent care center.  You don't want to ignore this -- what if you passed out while driving, at work, in public...whatever.     Feel better

I also have the same problem.   Mine seems to be linked to anemia with a topper of dehydration.  Just be careful about getting up suddenly... when a person passes out like that your body doesn't know to protect its self by putting your arms out to slow your fall and you may bump your head!
take care and let us know what the doctor has to say!
