Whatever you choose to put on the internet, consider it the same as putting it on a billboard.
In order to access most sites you have to agree to allow them to place a cookie on your pc. These track all the other sites you have visited. Ever wonder why the ads displayed on these pages and others are different for different people? They are being specifically directed to you based on your online history. Amazon is one of the most prolific information gatherers.

Whatever you post, whereever you post it, consider it to be public. That means photos, too. But, meanwhile, pedophiles are not drooling in the wings waiting for you to post the next pic of your barely Cro-Magnon grandchildren. Sure, don't hand out their name and address with any pictures, that's just chumming the waters. But, it is really no big deal if people see your photos. If you can't handle comments, you don't belong on the internet.

Say someone photoshopped a picture of you at Disneyland to make it look like you were giving Goofy head. So what? It is not some scary stalkerish behavior. It is not an invasion of privacy if they had access to the pic/info, anyway. They are just yanking your chain. Get over it.

Bottom line: dedicate a separate email address with a very tricky (numbers, letters, symbols) password for commerce. Do the same for all commerce sites.

The rest of it? Unless YOU drama queen it , it is no big deal.

good advice, but what brings this on?

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Someone photoshopped a photo of her at Disney, to make it look like she was giving Goofy head?

Just a guess...

I write for a living and spend too much time surfing the net for research. I came across a MB where some nutcase was shocked and aghast that, even though HER photos were private on FB, someone she had tagged didn't make her photos private.

Like someone cared about their BBQ? Really?

But, while THIS board didn't spur this thread, I HAVE seen many instances of people being shocked at what is public and being inexplicably horrified by people referring to information that THEY made very public.

I don't even use my legal name in my real life.
