Tattoo Ideas

I'm thinking of getting my first tattoo and I'd like it to have something to do with my WLS and the date - 3/24/08.
I was thinking of having it on my upper arm. I kind of like the idea of having the Phoenix because symbolizes re-birth.
Anyone have any suggestions????

Tattoos are generally really personal, its probably a good idea to go to the artist you wish to do your tattoo and ask tell them what you are looking for and they can design something if you want to incorporate dates and designs. I have four and they all represent different things to me and came from different inspirations.

Tattoos are meant to be forever, and they can be pretty costly, so if your heart is set on the Phoenix, that is what I would go for. Maybe have your wls date under the pheonix.

I have 2 tattoos and am wanting more. (they are like potato chips or peanuts,.......you can never stop at just one!) Since I love cats, I have a cat on my chest, on above each breast.

If you want to find a nice pic of a Phoenix, go to Google and do a search for Phoenix tattoos and that should give you ideas. If you find one you like, print it out and show it to the tattoo artist. Most will be able to do it. (that's how I found my 2nd tattoo, and I saw another cat tattoo online that I am wanting)

When you go to google, try searching under tattoo pics or images.

Do you see the glass as half empty or half full? I say, what difference does it make--I paid for a full glass,so either way I am getting jipped!!!

I have "Alis Volat Propriis" on my left forearm (She flies with her own wings) and a small pair of wings. On my right forearm is a phoenix. There are lots of ideas you can get - using the date:chinese symbols, latin numerals or words, phoenix in black outline or full color or whatever. I found my phoenix at the tattoo place, the artist had pics of previous work and it jumped out at me. I knew I wanted one, but the one he had was the right shading and detail. Go to a reputable place and look at their pics or online.

I was always talking about having the top inch of a zipper put on the top of my wls scar with the zipper partially unzipped
(I was open RNY) and having W L S on the zipper itself as they all have YKK on them anyway.

My scar is invisible now and about 4" long but I might do it in the future. lol.

I like the phoenix without the date. Do you really want the date? not as pretty!

It's your ink, I'm sure whatever you do will be lovely. We always wonder when people get Chinese characters if they really mean Stupid Yankee vs. what the person intended LOL

I always think there are quite a few people with "Special Lo Mein" tattoo'd on them LOL! I would NOT have chinese symbols tattoo'd on me unless I had confirmation from a native speaker that it was correct ...

Richie, I think there comes a point when our WLS doesn't have a huge significance in our life (I couldn't even tell you the exact date of my surgery - I'd have to look it up!) - so I think the phoenix is a nice idea but the date not so much. There may come a time when you don't want to have to explain to someone the significance of the date!
