Upper GI Series Today

Transfiguration

Hi there--

I had an upper GI Series with a follow through today.  My surgeon thinks I may have some leakage at the staple line. Do you know how long it takes to get the results of the GI series?  I couldn't get any information from the radiologist tech or PA on what was going on.  The admissions nurse told me that the xrays take 30 minutes.......It took 3.5 hours for me.  Does any one know if it is normal to make you walk the hospital halls for a 1/2 to a whole hour between xrays?  They kept saying my transit time was slow and I needed to walk to speed things up.  Thanks!

Things like the day's work load or whether or not they have in-house radiologists to read it can affect how long it takes to get your results.  Emergency cases will be given priority yours.

I don't know enough about the GI system to speak to transit time.  Sorry.

Lady, it sounds like you may have gastroparesis which is the delaying of the stomach contents it could be both food and water or either.
