I had gastric bypass in May 08 and have been having problems. Seems like about 90% of the time when I eat, no matter what I eat, I end up running to the bathroom. I don't know what could be causing it. Has any 3 years out ever experienced anything like this? If so, what do I need to do or have checked?
Also, what is the new surgery called that if you have had gastric bypass done that you can have this surgery? I have heard little about it and just curious. What kind of issues would call for you to have this surgery?
Thanks!
Sonya

I didn't have gastric bypass but I do have Ulcerative Colitis, which affects the colon. I used to eat and food would go straight through. I always thought it was my nerves. I also had extreme pain on the left lower abdomen, especially when my cycle would come on. My Gynocologist finally went in for exploratory and didn't find nothing, so I continued to live like that. It wasn't until 3 or 4 years later , I started passing blood and had to have a colonoscopy and finally diagnosed. I live on meds to control it, which for the last 2 years have not had too much relief . Then in November I had a newer weight loss procedure called POSE done, and when I changed my diet, my symptoms let up. Unfortunately, there is no cure for me.
Pose stands for primary obesity surgery endo luminal. They basically went down through the throat and take the part of the stomach that stretches out to accomodate food and they make many gathers and place some titanium anchors reducing the capacity of the stomach. The hormones in that area are affected and you are not hungry anymore. It is only for people who need to lose 25 to 100 lbs. pretty new procedure. I had it done Nov 15 and I have lost close to 30 lbs. Thanks!
That sounds like something I would like to have done..When I had my gastric bypass done back in 08 i was at 309..today i am at 235..i can lose a few pounds then the next month gain them back..i would like to lose about 60-70 more lbs but is so hard to do especially with what I have going on now..I had to have back surgery in May 2011 due to the sciatic nerve had caused my right leg to go numb and then when i came out of surgery my leg was in worse shape so i had to have knee surgery in nov 2011 to try to relieve the pressure off the nerve there and i can barely get around without the pain of the sensation of the nerve coming back...it really sucks lol...
Sounds like you are doing good with it..
Thanks
