At my first appointment with the Surgeon she sent me to have blood work, EKG and chest x-ray.  Well i went to get them all done today before my 2nd appointment next week.  HOLY COW  I thought i was gonna pass out!  They took 15  yes 15 viles of blood from me!  I swear when she was done i could feel me slowly getting that passing out feeling where everything starts to get dimmer.  But she got me an orange juice and within 5 minutes i was feeling a little better.  2 hours later i still feel strange!

Did you all have that much blood drawn from you?  and please tell me they wont do all that again for pre admission testing!!!

Wow, I think they only took 3 MAYBE 5 viles tops. Did they tell you why they were taking so many? Do you have some health issues that maybe they want to check on?

BTW..Good luck on your surgery. You will do great! (I'm a Mom, I know these things) (((smile)))

They were pre-op but im 5 months away from surgery.  Dr. Told me it was to rule out any pre-existing conditions. As far as health issues  all i have is High Blood Pressure.

Thanks for the Luck! Cause if it wasn't for bad luck i wouldn't have any luck ...lol

Yeah, they took about 15 from me.  And a cute PhD rode her bike from the university to the hospital lab to collect some directly from me for a genetics and obesity study she was performing.  At least thats is what she told me...  Hmmm...  lol

Wow, thats alot of blood! I bet your sugar was so low afterwards, that feels so aweful.  I only a few viles taken, Your Dr must have a super complete panel requested, ask him on the next appt, why so much blood?  eat some good protein right now, you'll feel better!

I wish you well.

I did not get that much drawn pre op but now I get 15 to 16 tubes every six months.  I wish I had thought to request a full set of labs pre op but it didn't occur to me.

When I have my regular bloodwork done, they draw 19 vials. One good thing about WLS---with that kind of bloodwork being done, I KNOW my vitamin and mineral levels are good! (Pre-op, they were kinda sucky.)
